Acrobatics

From "lifting" to "flying"

Acrobatics is often seen as floor gymnastics, but in fact it is its own sport.

Instead of using equipment, several people work together to create static and dynamic figures. In most cases, they work in pairs. However, there are also many elements with three or more people. As a rule, a distinction is made between the lower person - the 'base' and the upper person - the 'flyer'. The flyers are supported, balanced, thrown and caught by the bases in different positions. Especially with difficult or new elements, 'spotters' are borrowed for the necessary assistance and security.
When assigning roles, individual strengths such as stability, mobility and coordination, as well as personal preferences, are taken into account. The allocation is not fixed and can also change. Two bases paired together are often affectionately referred to as an 'elephant duo'.

In addition to technique, a sense of balance, strength and body tension, communication, responsibility and mutual trust are particularly important. All of this is playfully combined and developed further during acrobatic training. The focus is on learning new movements and enjoying what your own body can do. Ambitious acrobats can of course also combine the techniques they have learned to perform with them.

Is acrobatics difficult?
The level ranges from simple flying on feet - which many people probably know from playing in their childhood - to professional sports or circus acrobatics. Our training group is in the more or less ambitious leisure area.

We are happy to introduce curious beginners to acrobatics and also offer motivated athletes the opportunity to develop further.

In addition to regular training in a relaxed and casual atmosphere, we also like to go to acrobatics festivals. These are one- or multi-day events packed with workshops on acrobatics and artistry. In addition to lots of fun, there is also inspiration and the technical know-how for new elements.
