ATLETIKA

ATLETIKA-Garage 2022

It was great fun again. After our two workshops on July 7th and 8th, ATLETIKA found a great venue thanks to generous support from Chemnitz2025.

The ATLETIKA garage in the large bus hall of the garage campus (tram depot, Zwickauer Str.) was full of activity. There was enthusiasm for the dodgeball tournament on rubber mats made from recycled truck tires (PTM-Mülsen) and the new challenge cup holders also received a prize for winning.

Further honours were given in chess, where players also played indoors with other chess players from around the world. All other sports and games were used diligently.

Well fed and provided with various drinks, everyone was able to party with the soloists and bands. Thanks to DJ Nick, NIKKITA, Me & T and Foreghosts!

See you next time!

Atletika September 2021

ATLETIKA the First - a complete success!

It's crazy when you think about what a planned USG handball party can become...

Gert Schlegel, Steffen Hoemke and the sports friends of the USG handball section came up with the idea of a sports party and found full support and fellow campaigners from Max and the entire board. So we thought the sports party would be even bigger and planned a sports party for all athletes of the USG and the city with the event location Kraftverkehr.

In a creative round, based on an idea from Max, the name and logo were designed by transparent and the program was planned. With party - podium - perspectives, the framework was set and the celebration for the restart of sports after the difficult Corona period was tackled.

But Corona kicked in again with a new regulation 7 days before kick-off. Everyone celebrating indoors with masks? Since we were in favor of complying with the Corona regulations, but did not believe that they would be realistically feasible, we had to replan everything. Inside became outside! That also meant: we needed a new stage for the outdoor area with additional costs. Luckily, we were able to convince AOK plus on the board to sponsor ATLETIKA and take over the stage. Thanks to AOK plus, health and exercise were saved for the visitors to ATLETIKA. Thank you AOK plus!! With the help of the Kraftverkehr team, it was all possible at very short notice. Thank you Kraftverkehr!

On September 11th from 5pm the ATLETKA was able to start with party sports as a transition - from sporty to partying. With a bouncy castle, a huge human table soccer (sponsored by Feel Good Club - thank you!) , cornhole, soccer darts, basketball hoop and table tennis table, there was action all afternoon and evening. Basketball players from the Niners showed off their skills. The figure skaters from the USG delighted the audience with dance performances.

A highlight was the race on inline skates against celebrity speed skater Nico Ihle , who gave his best against three opponents and only had to admit defeat once (wanted to) ;-)). Simply a great guy! Thank you Nico!!

Thanks to delicious food from three food trucks and good Marxstadt beer as well as other nice drinks, no one had to go hungry until the evening program.

At around 6:00 p.m., visitors were able to follow the arrival of the Chemnitz cyclists of the European Peace Ride in Prague live via Facebook stream.

At 7:00 p.m., the club representatives ( Niners, HC Buteo, SSV Rottluff and USG) met with Mayor Ralph Burghart, the city sports association representative for Chemnitz 2025 Robert Bilz and the head of the sports office Roger Rabenhold to exchange ideas on sports in the cultural capital. (see attachment + survey).

The evening program started at 8:30 p.m. with Max thanking Gert and honoring him as ATLETIKA FOUNDER with the presentation of a FOUNDER T-shirt. Gert, in turn, thanked everyone with a Corona sports adaptation of Goethe's Easter Walk and handball player "Katze" kicked off the party evening with his adapted version of Robbie Williams' "Let me entertain you".

The Skating Graces showed their grace and synchronicity, this time without ice under their blades, but with superbly choreographed dance performances. The enthusiastic audience also welcomed Big Buddha and the Waving Cats for their performance and the now 15-year-old "Voice Kids" semi-finalist and rapper, a rugby player and angler in his USG life, lived up to his reputation as a stage tearer with the Waving Cats.

The Niners cheerleaders Clovers took everyone's breath away, for example when the young athletes fell backwards from the "third floor" into the depths, trusting that their teammates would catch them, which they then did to perfection.

In a great mood, the Gruppa Karl-Marx-Stadt took over the "Russian sceptre" as the main act and really got all the dance enthusiasts going! It's unbelievable how much musical variety, power and wit they bring!

DJ Nick, who had already enriched the afternoon musically, rounded off the night with cool beats.

ATLETIKA says goodbye next year!
