The sport for everyone !
The Chemnitz Cricket Club was officially founded as a division of the Universitätssportgemeinschaft Chemnitz (USG Chemnitz) e. V. on August 2014 thus marking the beginning of Chemnitz’s official cricket chapter. The foundation of the club is the culmination of sincere efforts from several students and employees in the University who are passionate about the ‘Gentleman’s game’. Together they aspire to establish a strong foothold for the game in the city and bring laurels to its name through active participation in professional circuits such as the SCV Regional Ost League.
Since October 2014, the USG Chemnitz e.V. abt. Cricket Club is a member of the Deutscher Cricket Bund, the official governing body for Cricket in Germany. This has enabled the club to participate in the professional Regional League in the forthcoming year.

What is Cricket?
Cricket is an English national sport.
Cricket is all about the duel between the thrower (BOWLER) and the batsman (BATSMAN). The bowler tries to get the batsman to make a mistake and the batsman tries to knock the ball off to get points (RUNS). The bowler is assisted by the other outfield players who are trying to bring the ball back as fast as possible.
General Game play:
While in other sports both teams can score in virtually every phase of the game, in cricket one team is the one who scores runs for a while while the other tries to prevent it; then it will be changed. Such a phase is called innings. A complete game of cricket consists of one or two innings per team, depending on the game format. A cricket team consists of eleven players. Of the team that scores runs, the hitting team, only two are on the pitch at the same time, the batsmen. The field team players are all in the field.
The batsmen face each other on the pitch. Behind each is a wicket. A bowler of the other team throws from one end of the pitch on the wicket about 20 meters away at the other end and tries to ensure that the batsman who stands in front of this wicket, makes a mistake and retires (Dismissal). The batsman in turn tries to fend off or knock the ball away with the help of his bat. A run is achieved if the batsmen succeeds in swapping positions. This is usually done by having the ball knocked off and both batsmen running over the pitch once or several times before the field team players can bring the ball back.
If a batsman leaves, a new player takes over his team's position. Once all team members have taken their position as batsman and ten of them are eliminated, leaving a batsman with no partner, the innings ends. Now the two teams swap roles. The team that has been trying to make runs tries to get the opposing batsmen eliminated while the other tries to score as many runs as possible.
The team that scores more runs in their one or both innings and manages to knock out the opposing team once or twice wins the game (see result (cricket)).
